Greg Lamont Vaughn was born and raised in Sacramento, CA.  He attended John F. Kennedy High School and was a 3-time All-City Selection in both baseball and football (at the varsity level).  Vaughn then attended Sac City College where his baseball successes continued, being named to the All-Conference and All-State teams.  From City, Greg went to the University of Miami on a baseball scholarship.  While at Miami, Vaughn was an All-American, led the nation in stolen bases, played on the USA team, and was named MVP of the Cape Cod league in 1986.  He was then selected in the 1986 MLB Amateur draft in the 1st round (4th pick – secondary phase) by the Milwaukee Brewers.  He made his Major League debut on August 10, 1989.  Since retiring from professional baseball (after 15 seasons in 2003), he started the Vaughn’s Valley Foundation – a program that gives scholarships and helps mentor at risk youth in the greater Sacramento area.  He enjoys spending time with his family, coaching baseball, and playing golf.
