Charlene Manley was voted the League MVP for softball at Edward C. Reed High School in Sparks, Nevada.  She then came to Sac City and helped lead the Panthers to the 1988 State Championship.  In her freshman season she made the school top ten list for wins (33), most complete games (40), and innings pitched (288).  During her sophomore season she threw 297 innings and 44 complete games, both of which put her 1st all-time on the SCC school softball record list.  She led the Panthers with a 0.08 E.R.A. (2nd all-time in school history) and 34 wins (4th all-time), and was selected to the 1988 All-State team as a Pitcher.  Manley then transferred to the University of South Carolina and helped the softball team win the 1989 SEC Championship as well as earn a berth in the College World Series.  That season started 32 games for the Gamecocks (13th all-time) and posted a record of 21 wins and 6 losses (13th all-time for winning percentage at South Carolina) and had a 0.88 E.R.A. (11th all-time).  She threw 206 innings (15th all-time) with 24 complete games (14th all-time) and 12 shutouts (7th all-time).  She threw the 14th no-hitter in South Carolina history against Coastal Carolina on April 3rd, 1989 en route to a 3-0 victory.    In 1993 she graduated with Honors from Paramedic School in Emergency Medicine.  She is currently a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Tech working in the mental health field, while preparing to possibly attend physician assistant school.
