Don Ramos

Don Ramos ran track for the Christian Brothers Falcons all 4 years of high school and was the MVP his junior and senior years.  He was the Roseville Invitational winner and record holder in the 100m and 220m, and was the Davis Picnic winner and a National Junior Olympic Champion in the 220m.  During Ramos’ freshman season at sac City, he was the undefeated Conference Champion in the 440m, and would only lose two races all year long (a Nor-Cal Runner-Up finish and a 5th place finish at the State Championships).  He was ranked 4th in the 220m and 7th in the 440m nationally.  He was once again the undefeated Conference Champion in the 440m his sophomore season, but this time would capture the Nor-Cal Championship and California State Championship in the 440m, tying the National Record in the State Meet with his time of 0:46.9.  He was again ranked 4th in the nation in the 220m, but improved to 1st in the nation in the 440m.  He was a two-time team MVP as a Panther and won the AAU Pacific Association Championship in the 440m and was the Roos-Adkins trophy winner as the school’s Most Outstanding Athlete of the Year his sophomore season.  After SCC, Ramos transferred to San Jose State University where he would compete at an elite level for a couple more years, recording all-time bests of 0:09.7, 0:20.9, and 0:46.3.  Don was the AAU Pacific Association Decathlon and Pentathlon Champion and finished 5th in the AAU National Pentathlon Championships.  He is a retired Fire Chief and he and his wife Marilyn have two children (Mark and Paul), three step-children (Shaun, Mark, and Holly), and 13 grandchildren.
