Years at Sac City: 1987-88
Sport: Softball
Induction Year: 2017

Shannon Padovan played softball for the Panthers in 1987 and 1988 and won back-to-back Camino Norte Championships and finished 2nd in the State as a freshman and as the State Champions (the 1st in school history) her sophomore year.  As a freshman she was an All-Conference Selection, an All-Regional Selection, and named to the State Championship all-Tournament team.  She was an All-American as a sophomore and her 18 sacrifices that season have her 3rd all-time in SCC history. She was also selected to be one of 12 players on the National Softball Coaches Association All-Star team.

Prior to playing at City, she competed down the street at C.K. McClatchy and was a 4 year Varsity letter in softball and the team MVP all 4 years.  As a Lion she would be an All-Metro League Selection, All-City Selection, win the Female Athlete of the Year Award, be named to the Optimist All-Star team, and played 3 years of basketball.  After SCC, she played at Sac State on a scholarship.  As a junior she was a member of the NCAA Division II National Runner-Up team and as a senior played on the first Division I softball team for the Hornets.

After college, she participated in the Women’s B Nationals in Indiana and was inducted into the C.K. McClatchy Hall of Fame for softball (as a player in 2014) and for coaching softball and the 1998 team that was undefeated (in 2016).  She was named the Sacramento Bee Coach of the Year in both 1995 and 1998.

Shannon was taught by her father to be hungry, competitive and hardworking and her mother taught her to be humble, giving and respectful.  Together they produced an athlete that was driven to be the best possible player, but also instilled in me the importance of college and how a degree would enhance my future.
