As a sophomore, Paul broke his own triple jump record; his mark of 49’1” was the 8th best jump in the nation. He also competed as a long jumper, high jumper, and high hurdler and was voted the SCC track MVP. He was also the leading scorer (17.2 ppg) and captain of the basketball team. And perhaps most importantly, in the final game of his basketball career, Paul led the Panthers to an 87-83 win over American River in 5 overtimes. Paul transferred to Fresno State as a track athlete. He was named the school’s Trackman of the Year in 1966 when his triple jump of 50’6” at the West Coast Relays was the 18thbest mark in the nation. He also competed as a long jumper (23’6”) and high jumper (6’6”).  Paul earned his BS degree from Fresno State in Industrial Technology Design, Drafting, and Architecture. In 2003 Paul retired from his career as a Mortgage Investment Specialist for the State of California Public Employees Retirement System.  After retirement, Paul coached the tennis teams at McClatchy from 2004 to 2010, leading the teams to 7 Metro league championships (4 girls and 3 boys).
