Panthers get offensive in 15-1 rout over the Colts

The offense came out swinging on Saturday and put up a 7 spot in the first inning on the Colts as they cruised to a 15-1 win to improve to 2-0 on the season. 

In the 1st, Auston Chastain doubled and scored, then Antonio Torres had a RBI single and scored, Shaq Robinson was hit by a pitch and scored, Jake Guenther was hit by a pitch for a RBI and scored, Jake Hathaway hit a 2 RBI double to right and scored, then Darius Autry had a 2 RBI double to right field and scored, followed by a Creed Smith single to left, and then a Joe McNamara RBI infield single to turn the lineup back over.  Chatain would add another hit as 10 panthers reached bases safely before the Colts recorded an out.  The line read 7 runs on 7 hits, 0 errors and 2 runner left on base.

The Colts finally got on the board in the 7th inning

Sophomore LHP, Isaiah Nunez started and threw 5 scoreless innings to pick up his first win of the season, while striking out 6 batters.  Ben Purcell, Christian Straub, Daylon Matthews, and Matt Ornelas would bring it home for the Panthers as they each threw an inning in relief.  The Pitching staff struck out 12 Cañada hitters on the heels of fanning 16 the night before, while scattering 6 hits.

Auston Chastain (2 RBI's), Jake Hathaway (2 RBI's), and Creed Smith led the way offensively as they all went 3x5 with a double.  Antonio Torres (2 RBI's) and Jake Guenther (2B) both had 2 hits and Darius Autry had a 2 RBI double.  The Panthers scored their 15 runs on 18 hits.

Sac City will play their first road game on Tuesday (2pm) when they travel to Hayward to face the Chabot Gladiators, who lost their first two games of the season to Santa Rosa.
