City wins the nightcap of their DH, 9-2, over Chabot

In game two of the DH against Chabot, the Panthers sent Isaiah Nunez to the mound.  Nunez didn't get much help from his defense early on as the Gladiators scored 2 unearned runs in the top of the 1st on 2 errors and no hits.  The defense would come around and Isaiah Nunez struck out 5 hitters in his 4 innings of work.

City finally got on the board in the 4th as Creed Smith hit a leadoff homerun to left.  Auston Chastain would double to right field with one out, advance to 3rd on a wild pitch and score on a J.R. Santiago fielder's choice RBI bunt.  Cameron Schubert walked and scored on a sacrifice fly to leftfield by Ruben Garza and the panthers led 3-2 heading to the 5th.  City added another run in the 5th as Creed Smith scored on a wild pitch.

In the 7th inning, Sac City would add two more runs as Creed Smith and Malcolm Boehm both walked and scored.  With two outs in the 8th, Jake Guenther singled to left, stole 2nd base, advanced to 3rd on a throwing error by the pitcher and scored on a wild pitch.  Zach Ewertsen and Creed Smith both walked and would end up scoring on a fielding error by the leftfielder to put the Panthers up 9-2.

That's how the game would end up as the Gladiators made 5 errors and were held to just 3 hits by Panther pitching.  Ben Purcell got the win in relief throwing 3 scoreless innings.  Billy Babb and Mitchell Miller each got an inning of work and retired the Gladiators in order.

The offense only had 4 hits, the homer by Creed Smith, doubles by Auston Chastain and Zach Ewertsen and the single by Jake Guenther.  City is scheduled to play Reedley and Contra Costa next week, depending on the weather.
