Title: Asst. Coach (Recruiting Coordinator & Mental Performance)

Joe Spatafore started as the Head Softball Coach at John F. Kennedy H.S. in 2001. In his 3rd year the Cougars made their first playoff appearance in 17 years. In 2006, he left Kennedy to coach Loretto H.S. In 2012 Spatafore was asked to return as the Kennedy Softball coach and the Cougars immediately returned to the playoffs. The Cougars made the CIF Playoffs 5 of the previous 6 seasons under Spatafore, including 2017 when the Cougars shared the school’s 1st Metro Conference title in 35 years. His career high school record as a head coach is 161-116-3.        

Coach Spatafore is a teacher of the sport and takes pride in developing his players for the next level. Over the years he has many of his HS players go on to college programs. He has also watched many additional players go on to play in college during his 10+ years with the California Rapids 18 Gold and the California Gold Rush 18’s. He was the Rapids 18u Gold co-head coach and coordinator of their college preparatory program. He also served as the head coach of the Gold Rush.

Coach Spatafore has taught for 26 years and has been on the teaching faculty at Kennedy HS for 19 years. He has credentials in English and Social Science. 

Joe started coaching at Sacramento City College in the Fall of 2018.
