On Friday night, the Panthers traveled to Diablo Valley to take on the Big 8 Conference leading Vikings. The host Vikings jumped out to a 15-12 lead by the end of the 1st quarter and had doubled that margin at the break leading 30-24. The Vikings again outscored the Panthers in the 3rd and led 48-41, but with about 3 minutes to go in the 4th quarter the Panthers made their move.
Maddy Bates knocked down back-to-back three-pointers and was 7 of 9 from behind the arc in the game. Jessica Lauderdale then sank a three-pointer, followed by a steal and a layup by Cauje Curney. Meghan Case would come up big on the defensive end and took a huge charge n the last 90 seconds to keep the Vikings off the scoreboard.
Coach Allender had this to say about her team after the win – "It was a total team effort, the team stayed unbelievably poised (in a tough environment on the road), and played tremendous defense. It's a huge win for us!"
The Panthers will be back home on Tuesday for their final regular season home game as they host the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs at 5:30pm.
