Sac City finishes 3rd at the Santa Ana Tournament
SCC traveled to Santa Ana for the 21st addition of the Santa Ana Invitational. The Panthers battled well and finished in 3rd place out of 13 teams. This was one place higher as SCC passed Mt. San Antonio College who had finished ahead of them the week before. SCC just missed out on 2nd place over Cerritos by just 2 points.
 
Leading the charge for SCC was Isaac Bertolotto (184 – RS FR – Turlock). This was the 2nd week down for Isaac Bertolotto who went 197 his first tournament.  Going in unseeded, he knocked off the 2nd, 3rd and 5th seeds along the way to the Championship.
 
Morgan Sauseda (125 – RS Soph – Chico) got to the finals for the 3rd straight tournament only to lose to Brandon Betancourt of Fresno for the third time.  Morgan Sauseda was dominant on the way to the finals as he racked up a all and 2 tech-falls.
 
Abel Garcia (174 – Fresh – Oakdale) ended up taking 3rd place. After losing a 4 OT semi match, he bounced back to win two more and finish 3rd.
 
Robert Sillas (184 – Fresh – Yuba City) also ended up with a 3rd place finish. He had a tech and a major among his 4 wins.
 
Rounding out the medals, Trevor Mattox (133 – Fresh – Pitman) took 4th place. Trevor Mattox made it to the semi match before losing to the eventual champion, bounced back for a win before losing out in the bronze medal match. 
 
Robert Seronio (141 – RS Fresh – American Canyon), Carlos Alvarez (149 – SR Soph – Folsom); and Dylan Crawford (157 – Fresh – Lodi) all tied for 5th place.
 
Other Panther wrestlers picking up some wins were:  Enrique Zavala ( 125 – FR – Alisal HS); Jason Stokkeland (149 – SR Soph – Calaveras); Hunter LaRue (149 – Fresh – Napa); Omari Batts (149 – RS Soph – Bethel HS); Tomas Landeros (157 – RS Fresh – Tracy); Brian Horn (174 – FR – Rocklin); Rob Nickerson (197 – RS Soph – Franklin); and Daniel Warden (285 – FR – Union Mine)
 
The Panthers will compete next weekend at the Modesto Tournament.
