Panthers finish 3rd at the Meathead Movers Invitational
The Panthers went to Cuesta College to compete in the Meathead Movers Tourney.  They came away with a 3rd place finish behind #1 ranked Fresno City and #3 ranked Mt. San Antonio College.
 
Leading the way for SCC way Robert Nickerson (Soph-197-Franklin HS) - he went 4-0 on the day to become the first SCC Wrestler to win 2 tournaments this season.  He finished the day off with a pin over Zach Roberson of Bakersfield in a match that was going back and forth until the 3rd period win.
 
Morgan Sauseda (Soph-125-Chico HS) finished in 2nd Place. He teched and pinned his way to the finals only to lose to his nemesis, Brandon Betancourt of FCC by a 7-3 score.
 
At 174, the Panthers had two wrestlers get to the 3rd place match.  Abel Garcia (FR-174-Oakdale) and Isaac Bertolotto (FR-174-Turlock).  Both started off with wins by fall.  They met in the quarter finals with Abel Garcia winning by a 5-2 score. Abel Garcia lost a close 3-2 match in the semi which took him into the consolations.  Isaac Bertolotto then won three straight matches including one by fall to reach the 3rd place match. He avenged a dual loss to Fresno CC wrestler Miguel Ruiz in the conso-semi. Abel Garcia came back with a 5-2 win over Brandon Tierney to also avenge an earlier season loss. They did not wrestle the 3rd place match calling it a tie.
 
Three Panthers finished in a tie for 5th place. Trevor Mattox (FR-125-Pittman), Omari Batts (Soph-149-Bethel) and Brian Horn (FR-165-Rocklin). Trevor Mattox won his first match by fall before dropping a match to Palomar.  He then scored a couple of close decisions before falling in the conso semi.  Omari Batts scored a decision after getting a bye.  He then defeated teammate Jason Stokkeland to move to the semis. He lost back to back matches in the semi and conso-semi to finish tied for 5th.   Brian Horn started off with a decision before losing to finalist Lugo of Cuesta. He bounced back with 2 more wins including a fall before losing a 5-3 match to Santos of Mt. SAC.
