Abbott places 1st at 184 lbs. to help lead the Panthers to a 3rd place finish at Santa Ana
The Panthers traveled to Santa Ana where they had their highest finish of the year with a 3rd place finish.
 
SCC was paced by Champion Steven Abbott at 184 (Soph-Orland HS). Abbott had 2 fall and a tech-fall on his way to the championship, including a fall in the finals.
 
Abel Garcia (Soph-Oakdale HS) finished 2nd at 174. Two of his three wins were by fall. 
 
Also getting medals were Brian Horn (Soph-Rocklin) at 197 and Eddie Zamora (Fresh-Rocklin) at 285 took 4th Place. This was the first tournament of the year for Horn and a good start for him. He had one fall on the day. Zamora lost his first match of the day, then won 4 in a row, including a fall and coming back to defeat Solano of Palomar who he lost to in his first match. Great rebound for Eddie.
 
Jordan Denny-174 (Soph-Folsom HS) went 3-2 on the day including two falls to finish tied for 5th.
 
Others getting wins for the Panthers were:  Ryun Ortiz (Soph-133-Virginia) had one win by fall; Mikey Mello (Fresh-149-Oak Ridge HS) had two wins by fall; Manny Curry (Fresh-157-Pleasant Grove) Had 3 wins including a fall and a tech-fall; and Hayden Elias (Fresh-285-Yuba City HS) who had a fall in a win.
 
SCC has next week off before going to the North Duals.
