City loses their dual against Southern Oregon University, but beats Simpson University for their record 17th win in a season

The Panthers traveled to Simpson University in Redding to finish off their season. They wrestled Southern Oregon University and Simpson University, both 4 year NAIA programs.

In the first match, SCC won the first two weights at 165 and 174 to take an early 7-0 lead. Abel Garcia at 165 and Isaac Bertolotto at 174 did the damage for SCC.  SOU rattled off 3 straight wins to take a 14-7 lead half way through the meet. Ryun Ortiz scored a tech fall at 125 to close the gap to 14-12.  SCC lost at 133. Michael Mello scored a 8-5 win at 141 to once again put SCC within striking distance, but SOU closed out with a fall and a decision to win 29-15.

In the last match of the day, SCC won 7 of 10 matches to chock up their 17th win on the season, making it the most wins in SCC wrestling history. Abel Garcia had a fall while Brian Horn scored a tech fall. Ryun Ortiz and Marques Evans both earned major decisions as SCC won 37-16 to finish the year 17-3. Regions are next up on Dec. 1.
