Female Scholar Athlete of the Year: Jasmine Loyola (Women's Cross Country/Track & Field)

Jasmine Loyola competes all season long for the Panthers as she runs Cross-Country in the fall and is a member of the Track & Field team in the spring.  This past fall, she helped the Cross-Country team repeat as Big 8 Conference Champions.  She was the Big 8 Conference Runner Up and earned 1^st Team All-Conference Honors.  Loyola finished in 10^th place at the Nor-Cal Cross-Country finals and 57^th at the State Championships (out of 161 individual finishers).

Loyola's work is not done yet, as she will be competing at the Nor-Cal Finals for Track & Field this Friday at Hughes Stadium and looks to qualify for the State Championship in Bakersfield May 18-19.  This spring she has already won an individual Big 8 Championship in the 3000m Steeplechase, finishing with her best time of the season, (12:29.95) and finished 3^rd in the 5000m (also her best time of the season for this event).
