The Women's Cross Country team officially opened the 2016 season (their pre-season Alumni 5K Race was a scrimmage) on Friday, September 2^nd at the Nor-Cal Preview Meet at Sierra College.  The Panthers finished in 3^rd place (out of 9 teams) with a combined time of 1:44:56 and 81 total team points.  Team points are calculated by taking the top 5 individual racers for each school – teams with less than 5 runners finishing will not qualify for a team score or placement in the meet.

Haley Grieger was the first Panther to cross the finish line, in 7^th place with a time of 20:08.8 followed by teammate Alyssa Ayala in 8^th place just 5 seconds behind (20:13.4).  City saw two more teammates, Clarisa Sandoval and Daryia Greene, cross the line in 25^th and 26^th just 2 seconds apart at 21:25.3 and 21:27.3 respectively.  The 5^th Panther to finish the race and complete the team scoring was Jeniffer Sosa in 34^th place with a time of 21:41.7.

The Panthers are back in action next Saturday, September 10^th at the Fresno Invitational at Woodward Park (site of the 2016 CCCAA Women's Cross Country State Championship).
