Women's XC wins Big 8 Championship for 2nd straight year!

The Sac City Women's Cross Country team successfully defended their Championship and are Back-to-Back Big 8 Conference Champions!

SCC was led by Jasmine Loyola as she crossed the line 2nd overall with a time of 20:09.7.  Alyssa Ayala finished in 6th place with a time of 20:27.9.  Both Jasmine Loyola and Alyssa Ayala earned 1st Team All-Big 8 Conference honors for their finishes.

City also had two runners make 2nd Team All-Big 8 Conference with their finishes…Perla Gonzalez-Rodriguez, who finished 8th overall (20:36.3) and Daryia Greene, who came in 11th place (21:00.9). 

Deja Johnson rounded out the team scoring for the Panthers as she finished in 15th place overall with a time of 21:20.6.  Lauren Foster was the last City runner to finish as she came across the line in 27th place at 23:34.2.

The Panthers finished with an overall score of 40 points, 2 points ahead of American River, who came in 2nd place with 42 points.  The combined team time was 1:43.35, which was 13 seconds better than the Beavers.  The Big 8 Championships shook out to be a two-horse race, with the Panthers finishing 2, 6, 8, 10, and 14 for the team scoring, and the runner-ups (ARC) finished 3, 7, 9, 11, and 12.  Finishing in a distant 3rd place was Santa Rosa with 77 points, followed by Sierra (80), Modesto (144) and SJ Delta (149).

Next up for the Panthers will be the Nor-Cal Championships next Friday, November 3rd at Toro Park.
