(6-2) #18 SAC CITY WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FINISHES (3-1) AT GILCREST TOURNAMENT

The Sacramento City College Women's Basketball team won the Consolation Championship at the 39th annual Gilcrest Tournament on Saturday with a win over Antelope Valley (54-48). After losing to Pasadena (58-54) the Panthers won three games in row against the following teams: December 4th Riverside (71-65), December 5th Los Angeles Valley (68-62), and Antelope Valley (54-48) on December 6th.

The Sacramento City Panthers who were previously unranked with quality wins have risen to #18 in the state polls and are the 8th ranked  team in NorCal.

 

Rs freshman G (#11) Jessica Lauderdale was named to the Gilcrest All-Tournament team.

 

The #18 Panthers return to action in the Santa Rosa Invitational Tournament December 10th with their 2nd matchup this season against the 6th ranked San Francisco City College Rams at 2 PM. San Francisco City College only loss this season was against the Panthers on Nov. 21st (63-62) thanks to a clutch free throw make by sophomore forward (#21) Kristen Gooding with 2.1 seconds left at the Sasha Brown Classic (Sierra College).

 

Pasadena :

The Panthers led 34-31 at half before being defeated in close game (58-54). Sac City was led by red-shirt freshman Jessica Lauderdale 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Sophomore G/F Aleea Reese finished with 16 points 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.  

 

Los Angeles Valley: 

The Panthers bounced back in game 2 by defeating LA Valley 68-62The Panthers were led by red-shirt freshman G (#11) Jessica Lauderdale who scored 24 points and grabbed 7 rebounds on 7-11 shooting from the field and hit 7-10 shots from the 3 point line. Sophomore (#23) Aleea Reese scored 23 points on (6-12 from the field, 3-5 from the 3 point line and 8-10 at the free throw line while grabbing 9 rebounds with 2 steals.

 

Riverside:

The Panthers in game 3 got a balanced attack in their win against Riverside (71-65). Freshman G (#10) Mikayla Royster scored 11 points with 4 assists without missing a shot from the field (4-4 FG / 3-3  3 FG's) redshirt freshman G (#11) Jessica Lauderdale scored 12 points had 5 rebounds with 4 assists, sophomore G (#12) Jasmine Bernardo made (4) 3 point shots and finished with 12 points and 3 steals. Sophomore G/F Aleea Reese scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds and freshman F (#24) Katelynn Mitchell had 8 points and 5 rebounds. Sac City shot 48% (25-52) from the field and shot 50% (13-26) from the 3 point line.

 

Antelope Valley:

The Panthers in the Consolation Championship led 25-20 at the half and won despite not shooting the ball well from the field by shooting 47% from the 3 point line (9-19) and won 54-48. Sac City were led by sophomore G (#0) Corina Tacardon 12 points and 6 assists. Aleea Reese had 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Rs freshman G (#11) Jessica Lauderdale finished with 4 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 3 assists.
