#12 SCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (12-3 ) Win Gervasoni Memorial Classic at DeAnza College Dec. 28TH-30TH

38th Annual Mike Gervasoni Memorial Classic at DeAnza College

The (#12) Sacramento City College Women's Basketball team won the Championship of the Mike Gervasoni Memorial Classic at DeAnza (61-53). Redshirt freshman G (#11) Jessica Lauderdale earned MVP honors and was named to the All-Tournament team as well. Sophomore G/F (#23) Aleea Reese also earned All-Tournament honors.  The Panthers return to action on January 5, 2016 at home in their first Big 8 contest against the (#11) Sierra Wolverines (9-4) in North Gym at 5:30 PM.

 

December 28th vs Chabot (Defending State Champions):

Sac City opened the tournament by beating the defending state champions by hitting (12) three point baskets and by a final score of (69-57). The Panthers were led by So G/F Aleea Reese 20 points with 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists. (#23). Sophomore G/F Aleea Reese  was 6-12 from the field, made 3 of 4 from the 3 point line and went 5-6 at the free throw line. Redshirt freshman G (#11) Jessica Lauderdale scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Also sophomore G (#12) Jasmine Bernardo hit 4-9 from the 3 point line and finished with 12 points.

 

Dec. 29th vs Solano:

The Panthers in game 2 got a balanced attack in their win against Solano (56-46). Sac City led this tight game 24-23 at the half. Freshman G (#10) Mikaila Royster scored 9 points going 7-7 from the free throw line. Redshirt freshman G (#11) Jessica Lauderdale scored 18 points with 7 rebounds and had 3 steals, sophomore G (#12) Jasmine Bernardo scored 9 points and had 3 steals. Sophomore G/F Aleea Reese scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Panthers shot (17-21) 81 % from the free throw line. 

 

Dec. 30th (Championship Game) vs San Mateo:

The Panthers in the Championship game led 36-26 at the half and won despite not shooting the ball well from the field ( 19-60) for 32%. Sac City did make 12 big 3 point baskets in the game and shot (11-14) 79% from the free throw line while outrebounding San Mateo 43-29. The Sac City Panthers were led by sophomore G (#12) Jasmine Bernardo 19 points while going 5-9 from the 3 point line and 4-4 from the free throw line. Redshirt freshman G (#11) Jessica Lauderdale finished with 21 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Sophomore G/F (#23) Aleea Reese scored 9 points and grabbed 13 rebounds dished out 5 assists and  had 3 steals as well.
