Avendano enters her 15th year with Sacramento City College track and field program. Fall 2016 will mark of first year as HC of the Women's Track and Field team. Avendano is also the Head Women's Cross Country Coach.  Avendano brings an abundance of cross-country and track and field experience to the Sacramento City College program.

A graduate of Paramount High School in Los Angeles, Avendano was a CIF Champion in the 1600m and runner-up in the 3200m, recording personal bests of 5:01 and 11:08 respectfully. Coach Avendano won numerous conference titles in both cross-country and in track while attending California State University, Los Angeles. She also did the same after she transferred to California State University, Sacramento. Avendano is a 9-Time All-American in cross-country and in track. She was the first athlete in CSU-Sacramento history to earn Division I All-American honors.

Coach Avendano received her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from CSU-Sacramento in 1998 and received her Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology in 2001 from CSU-Sacramento. She is married and resides in Sacramento.
