Terry Moody is awarded the 2019-20 SCC Male Scholar Athlete of the Year

Terry Moody, a 2-year starter for the Men's Basketball team, helped lead the Panthers to a 2nd place finish in the Big 8 Conference as the team won 10 of their last 11 conference games.  During that streak, he recorded three double-doubles, and scored double-digits in 10 of the games accounting for 161 total points and helped the Panthers secure a postseason berth for the 2nd consecutive season.

Moody, this year's team captain, was a 1st Team All-Big 8 Conference selection and an all-state nominee.  He led the team and conference in field goal percentage (57.6%) and scored 337 points on the season, more than double what he scored as a freshman.  He was a two-time Academic All-Big 8 Conference selection and has been nominated for Academic All-State this year as well.

Academically, Terry currently has an impressive 3.64 Cumulative GPA and is on pace to finish his career at SCC with an Associate degree in Business Administration.

Terry is not only a great basketball player, he is a great leader. According to his head coach, Andrew Jones, "Terry was a team captain as a sophomore and he took that responsibility seriously. His mere presence in practice made the effort and concentration level rise . . . and with his academic performance never an issue, when he spoke to teammates about the seriousness with which they needed to address their classes, they listened."

In his spare time, Terry volunteers as a youth group leader for Folsom High School.

When asked about his experience as a student-athlete at SCC, Terry had the following to say . . . "Athletics and academics have combined to make a significant impact on my overall education at Sacramento City College. The coaches constantly emphasized that we were students first, athletes second. I took this to heart, and consequently I've been able to sign a letter of intent to play at UC Merced."

Terry Moody will attend UC Merced next season on a basketball scholarship (the 3rd Panther in as many years to do so), where he plans to major in Business Management.
