The Panthers opened the 2023 season with a team championship at the David Pacheco Invitational. The team was led by champions Ben Quilpa (133), Ethan Boyd (165), Adrian Chavez-Moralez (184), and Ethan Birch (197). Placing 2nd were Alfredo Trejo-Mendoza (157), Andrew Hamant (174), and Evan Glines (285). Ammar Khan placed 3rd at 157, Jacob Hodge (133) and Caden Diamond (157) placed 4th, and Caden Talmadge place 5th at 133. Prior to the tournament, David Pacheco was honored for his 39 years dedicated to Sac City wrestling as an athlete and coach. The Panthers will be back in action next week at the West Hills College Invitational in Lemoore, CA.

**We would like to dedicate this tournament championship to the family and to the memory of Justin McAllister. Justin, a Sac City football player, passed away earlier in the week. His younger brother, Gavin, is a wrestler at Delta High School in Clarksburg. Justin and the McAllister family were honored in a pre-game ceremony before Sac City vs. Chabot football game.

***A huge thank you to our Athletic Trainers for stepping up and helping with the event while short-staffed!
