Male Scholar Athlete of the Year: Adam Erickson (Baseball)
Adam Erickson has been the closer for the Panthers all season long and finished with 6 saves on the season, which was the most by any Big 8 closer and 9th best in the state. Erickson allowed just 19 hits in 31.33 innings pitched, while striking out 26 and issuing just 10 base on balls. He allowed just 6 earned runs and finished the regular season with an ERA of 1.72, which was 4th best on a team that had the 4th best combined ERA in the state. At the end of the regular season, he had 5 wins, which was tied for most on the team. However, his teammate had 5 wins as a starting pitcher, whereas Adam earned his 5 wins out of the bullpen. He was also nominated as a 2nd Team All-Big 8 Conference selection as a relief pitcher.
Erickson and the Panthers are coming off a Nor-Cal Regional playoff series sweep over #14 Chabot College and host #7 Fresno City College this weekend for the Nor-Cal Super Regional best-of-three series. He is still weighing his options for next season and has been in talks with some teams from the nation's top collegiate summer leagues.
