The Sac City Wrestling team traveled to Lemoore and the West Hills Tournament. Still nursing a number of minor injuries, the Panthers finished in 4^th place among the 18 colleges represented at this early season mash up.  Fresno City won easily while Cerritos and Mt. San Antonio finished 2nd and 3rd.

 

SCC was led by two finalists, Abel Garcia (Soph-Oakdale HS) at 174 and Isaac Bertalotto (Soph-Turlock HS) at 184. Garcia suffered his first loss of the season in the finals to Abner Romero of FCC. Garcia had one fall and one Tech Fall on the way to the finals. Bertalotto, wrestling for the first time this season, made it to the finals but defaulted out for the 2nd place finish.

 

A trio of Panthers finished in 3rd place. Conrad Trevino (Fresh-Del Campo HS) lost a tough match in the semi's to eventual Champion, Conrad Lopez of FCC, but battled back to win 2 more and take 3rd place. Manny Curry (Fresh-Pleasant Grove HS) lost a tough quarter final match and fought back with 3 straight wins to get to the 3rd place match. College rules only allow for 6 matches in one day, and Curry met that number with his last win and had to settle for a tie for 3rd. He had 2 falls a Tech Fall and a Major in his wins. Steven Abbott moved down to 184 this week and took 3rd place as well. After losing in the semi, he bounced back with 2 wins to take 3rd. He had 3 falls in his wins including the 3rd place match. Also medaling was Mikey Mello with a 6th place finish. Mello won his first 2 matches by fall, including a fall of the #1 seed, Adam Valdez of MTSA. SCC will go forward next week for the Santa Ana Tourney at Santa Ana College.
