Sac City (LRCCD) revises spectator policy in response to surging COVID case numbers

As we prepare to welcome students back for a new semester, we had hoped to be resuming a much more normal schedule of on-campus athletic activities, including the return of spectators at our events.  Unfortunately, we find ourselves again at the mercy of this tenacious pandemic, with the highly contagious COVID-19 Omicron variant surging throughout our region, state, and nation.

In response to sky-rocketing case numbers throughout our region, the Los Rios colleges have decided to postpone the return of spectators to indoor events until at least Febrary 21st (subject ot change).   While we are fortunate to know that our employees and students are vaccinated, the sheer volume of cases is leading to concerns about serious breakthrough cases, rising hospitalization rates in our region, and the operational impacts of large-scale indoor gatherings at athletic events.

Many public health experts are predicting that this wave of infections will subside as rapidly as it has surged, and we look forward to allowing spectators to return to our gymnasium very soon.  Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.
