The Panther Athletic Department is pleased to announce their new Women's Basketball Coach, Caleb Theodore!

Dean Steve Hanson and the SCC Kinesiology, Health, and Athletic Department are excited to introduce Caleb Theodore as the new Full-Time Kinesiology Instructor/Head Women's Basketball Coach. Theodore spent the previous two seasons as the head coach at Las Positas College in Livermore.

While in Livermore, he resurrected a Hawks program that had been dormant from 2020 to 2022. His 2022-23 team was led by freshman forward, Monique Cavness, who earned WBCA All-American Honorable Mention after leading the state with 17.8 rebounds per game.

Theodore's 2023-24 squad doubled their wins from the previous season, finished 7th in the state in points per game (75.9), and led the state in rebounds per game (58.1). Kierstin Constantino, who earned WBCA All-American Honorable Mention, totaled 146 3-pointers (trailing Caitlyn Clark among all college players), was the second-leading scorer in the state (26.2 ppg), and was named first team all-conference. The team also included the state's top two rebounders in Joyce Mulumba (21.3 rpg) and Monique Cavness (19.6 rpg). Mulumba was the second leading rebounder in the nation at all levels of college basketball. Kyshanti King finished as the number 12 scorer in the state (20.0 ppg) and contributed 7.3 rebounds per game. Cavness and King were second team all-conference selections, and Mulumba earned honorable-mention.

Theodore served as the lead assistant at Cal State East Bay in 2021-22. After capturing the CCAA tournament title, the Pioneers (ranked 10th nationally) earned the right to host the NCAA Division II West Regional, where CSUEB finished as the runner-up.

Coach Theodore spent the 2020-21 season as a graduate assistant at the University of the Pacific. With Theodore's assistance, a quartet of players earned recognition, including Erica Adams (WCC all-freshmen), Brooklyn McDavid and Lianna Tillman (both all-WCC Honorable Mention), and Valerie Higgins (WCC Defender of the Year, WCC All-Conference, and the 25th pick of the 2021 WNBA draft).

Theodore played at Big Valley Christian College Prep in Modesto and William Jessup in Rocklin. He also had the privilege of playing professionally for a season in Montenegro, where he was awarded the "KSCG PRVA-B" Newcomer of the Month in October of 2019. While in Montenegro, he was also a player development coach for a U16 team. Theodore was a week away from playing professionally in Australia when Covid hit and travel to Australia ceased. That's when he shifted his focus from playing to coaching.

Theodore, who earned his B.A. in Psychology from Jessup, holds an M.A. in Coaching and Athletic Administration and an M.S. in Exercise Science (both from Concordia University in Irvine). He is currently pursuing a PhD in Sports Management (emphasis in Exercise Science, Coaching, and Title IX) from the United States Sports Academy.

When asked about his new position, Theodore said, "Sacramento City College has fulfilled my goal of becoming a full-time coach at the college level and I couldn't be more excited to empower our student-athletes, make history, and compete for a championship in the Big-8 Conference. I cannot wait to fully immerse myself into the 916 community once again. It is good to be home."
