Sac City’s Joyce Mulumba Named WBCA Honorable Mention All-American After Historic Season

Sacramento City College sophomore Joyce Mulumba has etched her name into the record books, earning WBCA Honorable Mention All-American honors, making her the first player in 36 years from Sac City to receive this prestigious recognition. Mulumba led all levels of women's college basketball in rebounding during the 2024-25 season, further solidifying herself as one of the most dominant post players in the nation.

Mulumba was the only player in the country (across NCAA Divisions I, II, III, NAIA, NJCAA, and 3C2A) to surpass 500 rebounds in the regular season, finishing with 516 total boards. She also became the first player in California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) history to surpass 1,000 career rebounds while leading the state in both offensive (224) and defensive rebounds (292).

Her dominance on the glass was evident as she topped the 3C2A in rebounding for the second straight season, averaging 18.4 rebounds per game as a sophomore, following a nation-leading 21.3 RPG as a freshman.

Beyond her rebounding prowess, Mulumba was named to the BIG-8 Conference First Team, led the league in rebounding (20.0 RPG), and was recognized for her excellence in the classroom as a BIG-8 All-Academic selection with a 3.48 GPA.
