Sierra Outlasts Sacramento City in 11-Inning Thriller, 8-6

Sierra College capitalized on late-inning opportunities and took advantage of five Sacramento City errors to secure an 8-6 extra-inning victory on March 25, 2025, at Union Stadium in Sacramento, CA. The Wolverines scored three runs in the 11th inning to snap a 5-5 tie and fend off a late rally from the Panthers.

Early Lead Slips Away for Sac City
Sacramento City struck first in the bottom of the first with a Dylan Drake RBI double scoring Levi Sotomayor. Sierra responded in the third, pushing across two runs thanks to an RBI single from Landon Vetter and a Panthers' error. Cowen Meyer added another RBI in the fifth to give Sierra a 3-1 lead.

Isola's Blast Ties It for Sac City
Kaden Isola came through for the Panthers in the sixth, launching a two-run home run to left center to tie the game 3-3. But Sierra answered right back in the seventh with back-to-back RBI hits from Cody Ferrante and Meyer, regaining a 5-3 advantage.

Panthers Force Extras with Seventh-Inning Rally
Sacramento City battled back in the bottom of the seventh. Dylan Drake's RBI groundout cut the lead to 5-4, and Eddie Fines later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game 5-5. Both teams went scoreless over the next three innings, sending the contest into extras.

Sierra Breaks Through in the 11th
In the 11th, Sierra broke the deadlock. Nathan Erickson's bunt turned into a run-scoring play after a throwing error by the pitcher. Vetter followed with a two-run single to extend the lead to 8-5. The Panthers managed a run in the bottom half on Sotomayor's RBI single but couldn't complete the comeback.
