Monterey Park - The Sac City Women's Wrestling team's season came to a conclusion on Saturday at the 2025 3C2A State Championships, hosted by East Los Angeles College. The Panthers finished in 4th place in the 16-team field, with 7 total top-8 individual placers.
Karissa McDaniel earned All-American status by finishing in 3rd place at 103 pounds. After losing in the semifinals to the eventual champion, Graciela Caro from Skyline, McDaniel battled back in the consolation bracket by winning two matches by fall, including a :51 second fall over Luciana Frazao from Palomar in the 3rd place match. Andrea Gonzalez finished 3-2 and placed 4th at 117. Ashlee Gutierrez suffered a knee injury in the semifinals but still went 3-2 to finish 4th at 131. Shelby Banovitz went 3-2 and placed 7th at 124. Paula Aguilar placed 7th at 190 and Grace Mercado placed 7th at 207.
