Sac City beats Contra Costa 6-5 in game one of their doubleheader

The Panthers would strike out 12 Comets in game one of their non-conference doubleheader on Saturday, but had to come back to in the game 6-5.  The Panthers struck first with a run in the 3rd as Antonio Torres walked and scored on a double to right field by Jake Guenther.  City added 2 more runs in the 4th and led the Comets 3-0.  Auston Chastain singled to left with one out and with two outs Antonio Torres and Jake Guenther walked to load the bases.  Jake Hathaway would get a two out single to center to score Auston Chastain and Antonio Torres.

Contra Costa would tie the game in the 5th when a Panther error extended the inning and then a bases clearing double had the game 3-3. 

In the bottom of the 5th, Cameron Schubert and Ruben Garza were both hit by a pitch and then Auston Chastain walked (all with one out).  Cameron Schubert would score the go ahead run on a Creed Smith sacrifice fly to right field.  Contra Costa would score in the 6th to tie the game again; and another run in the 7th put them on top 5-4.

After the stretch, Cameron Schubert led off with a single to leftfield.  He advanced to 2nd based on the sacrifice bunt by Ruben GarzaAuston Chastain doubled to right and scored Cameron Schubert to tie the game at 5-5.  Auston Chastain would score the go ahead run on a Creed Smith sacrifice fly to right field. 

Auston Chastain was 3x4 with a double and 2 runs scored, while Jake Guenther was 2x4 with a double and 2 RBI's.  Adam Erickson picked up his first win of the season in relief and the save went to Daylon Matthews.
