The Panthers pound out 15 hits and score 18 runs in their win over Modesto

On Tuesday afternoon at the U, the Modesto Pirates and Sac City Panthers would play a Big 8 Conference game that turned into a marathon 9 inning contest that lasted nearly 4 hours (3 hours and 48 minutes to be exact).  The Panthers took game one of the series by a score of 18-6.

The Pirates used 8 pitchers in the game and issued 22 free passes to the Panthers…19 walks and 3 hit batters.  In addition to the free passes, the Panthers pounded out 15 hits as they went on to score 18 runs.

City was led by Jake Guenther (3x5 with a double and 2 RBI's), Auston Chastain (3x4 with 2 RBI's), Jake Rodrigues (2x3 with a triple and 3 RBI's) and Creed Smith (2x3 with 2 RBI's).  The other Panthers collecting a hit in the win were Antonio Torres, Zach Ewertsen (double), Shaq Robinson, Anthony Clyma, and Joe McNamara.

Billy Babb picked up his 6th win of the season in relief as he threw 3 innings.
