City gets 5 consecutive hits in the 8th and scores 4 runs as they beat Chabot 5-1

Nick Mears got the win in relief and improved to 4-1 on the season.  Nick Mears entered the game in the top of the 8th inning with one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd for the Gladiators and had 2 strike outs to save the game and swing the momentum back to the Panthers. 


The offense responded as Antonio Torres singled with one out, then Ruben Garza had a base hit bunt, followed by a Joe McNamara single to the shortstop in the hole.  Anthony Clyma then delivered the game winning 2 RBI single up the middle to score Antonio Torres and Ruben GarzaJake Guenther then singled to drive in Joe McNamara to cap off a string of 5 consecutive hits for Panthers.  Shaq Robinson was hit by a pitch and with the bases again loaded; Auston Chastain hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield that plated Anthony Clyma


Nick Mears pitched a three up three down 9th and the Panthers advance to the Nor-Cal Super Regional Playoffs.  The Panthers will host the winner of Sunday's decisive game three between the #9 College of Sequoias Giants and the #8 Feather River Golden Eagles...that game was postponed from being played this afternoon.
