Sierra Storms Back to Beat Sac City, 14–7, Behind Redding's 4-RBI Night and Eighth-Inning Explosion
Sierra College delivered a thunderous late-game rally on Wednesday to down Sacramento City, 14–7, at home, improving to 29–13 on the season. The Wolverines rode a combination of patient at-bats, opportunistic baserunning, and Jake Redding's clutch double to erase an early deficit and seize control.
Early Offense Not Enough for Sac City
Sacramento City (23–21) struck first, with Dylan Drake launching a solo homer in the first and Jackson Blakley following with a three-run shot in the third to build a 4–0 lead. The Panthers racked up 15 hits on the day but struggled to maintain momentum as Sierra chipped away.
Sac City extended its lead to 5–2 in the fourth with an RBI single from Dom Agrella, but defensive miscues proved costly.
Wolverines Capitalize on Errors to Flip the Game
Sierra broke the game open in the fourth, scoring five runs—only one of them earned—thanks to three Sac City errors and timely hits from Brady Ranallo, Owen Faith, and Cody Ferrante. Ferrante's two-RBI single gave Sierra its first lead at 7–5.
Sacramento closed the gap to 8–7 in the seventh on a Cal Elvis RBI single and a Jackson Norton sac fly, but the Wolverines saved their biggest punch for the eighth.
Redding Delivers the Knockout Blow
Sierra erupted for six runs in the bottom of the eighth, highlighted by Jake Redding's three-run double that cleared the bases and broke the game wide open. Nathan Erickson added a two-RBI single to make it 14–7, sealing the win.
Cam Staton earned the win with 6 solid innings, allowing five runs (four earned) while striking out six. The Sierra bullpen held strong over the final three innings.
