Tacardon signs basketball scholarship with Evergreen State College

Corina Tacardon (sophomore point guard from C.K. McClatchy High School) has signed a basketball scholarship with the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA.

Tacardon played in 30 of the Panthers 31 games last season, and started 22 of those games.  She helped lead City to the 2nd round of the playoffs and a 22-9 overall record.  Corina finished her sophomore campaign with 222 points, 53 assists, 69 rebounds, and 25 steals.  She led the team in 3-point field goal percentage at 39.2% connecting on 51 of 130 attempts.

Sac City Head Coach, Julia Allender was asked about Corina moving on to the next level and had this to say about her point guard.

"I am extremely proud of Corina and her accomplishments thus far.  She had to persist through a lot to get where she is at now and it is well deserved.  She had a tremendous year for us last year with filling the point guard position and leading our team and the Big 8 in 3pt FG% while we went 22-9 on the year and finishing in a 3 way tie for 2nd in the Big 8.  I know she will have continued success at Evergreen State College and I look forward to watching her grow as a student-athlete."

Corina Tacardon's best offensive performances came down the stretch in the final round of Big 8 Conference play.  On Feb. 2nd she scored her season-high with 24 points, including 6 three-pointers.  The following week she sank 5 three-pointers and ended the night with 15 points.  Then the next week on "Sophomore Night" Corina knocked down a season high 7 three-pointers accounting for all of her 21 points as the Panthers would finish in a 3-way tie for 2nd place in the competitive Big 8 Conference.

The Evergreen State College Geoducks are member of the NAIA and compete in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.  They are looking to improve on last year's finish and expect Corina to make an immediate impact on the program.
