Sacramento City Outlasts Folsom Lake in 3-2 Extra-Inning Victory

Sacramento City battled through nine innings to edge Folsom Lake 3-2 in a hard-fought road win on March 18, 2025. A key error in the ninth inning allowed the Panthers to break a 2-2 tie and secure the victory.

Early Lead and Folsom Lake Response
Sacramento City opened the scoring in the second inning when Elyse McCartney ripped an RBI double to left center, scoring Lily Lopez for a 1-0 lead. Folsom Lake answered in the fourth as Hailey Permenter singled up the middle, driving in two runs to put the Falcons ahead 2-1.

Panthers Even It in the Fifth
The Panthers responded in the fifth inning when Kayla Garber lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, bringing home Chloe Kimbrell to tie the game at 2-2. Both teams remained locked in a pitchers' duel, with neither able to break through until extras.

Sacramento City Capitalizes in the Ninth
In the top of the ninth, Isabela Rogel reached on a single, stole second, and came around to score the go-ahead run on a fielding error by Folsom Lake's second baseman as Chloe Kimbrell put the ball in play. The Panthers took a 3-2 lead and held on from there.

Almond Dominates in Relief
Reliever Korrie Almond (W) was outstanding for Sacramento City, tossing 6.1 innings while allowing just four hits and two runs with six strikeouts. Almond kept the Falcons off the board through extra innings, preserving the win.

Folsom Lake Comes Up Short
Despite a strong relief effort from Marianna Prieto, who went 7.2 innings with just one earned run, Folsom Lake (5-18, 3-7) couldn't muster any late-inning offense. Hailey Permenter's two-run single provided their only scoring.
