Sacramento City Shuts Out Butte, 7-0

Sacramento City earned a dominant 7-0 victory over Butte on February 20, 2025. The game was highlighted by a stellar pitching performance from Korrie Almond, who tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing no hits and striking out five. The Panther' offense provided enough support with a balanced attack, scoring in every inning but the fourth to cruise to the win.

Early Lead for Sacramento City

Sacramento City jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Chloe Kimbrell scored the first run on an error by Butte's third baseman, and Jenna Potter followed with a sacrifice groundout to score Kimbrell. The Panthers extended their advantage in the second inning when Isabela Rogel stole second and Lily Lopez crossed the plate, making it 3-0.

Sacramento City Adds to Their Lead

In the third inning, Larissa Banks drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Ava Seguin to push the lead to 4-0. Butte's defense struggled throughout the game, committing four errors, which allowed Sacramento City to take advantage of the extra opportunities.

Garber's Homer Caps Off the Scoring

Kayla Garber added a solo home run in the fifth inning to extend the Panthers' lead to 5-0. Sacramento City then put the game out of reach in the sixth inning when Seguin doubled, scoring both Potter and Kimbrell on unearned runs, bringing the score to 7-0.

Almond's Mastery on the Mound

Korrie Almond was the star of the game in the circle for Sacramento City. She threw a gem; a complete-game no-hit shutout with 5 strikeouts. Despite issuing three walks, Almond kept Butte's batters off balance all game, and the Roadrunners were unable to mount any offense.

Butte Struggles Offensively

Butte's offense never found its rhythm, managing only five baserunners throughout the game, with three walks and two errors. Cabria Childers took the loss in the circle for Butte, allowing seven runs (three earned) on nine hits in seven innings. She struck out three but was unable to escape trouble as Sacramento City's offense continually capitalized on opportunities.
