Seguin Shuts Down Merced as Sacramento City Rolls to 6–0 Victory

Behind a three-hit shutout from pitcher Ava Seguin and a steady offensive effort, Sacramento City College blanked Merced College, 6–0, on April 15, 2025, in Merced, CA. The Panthers (25–11) extended their win streak with another dominant all-around performance, while the Blue Devils (8–24) were held scoreless for the second straight game.

Seguin Silences Blue Devils

Seguin was in complete control from the circle, allowing just three hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings. She needed only 50 pitches to retire 27 batters, keeping Merced off balance all game long with efficient, contact-inducing pitching.

Marfull Sparks Mid-Game Surge

After a quiet start, Sacramento City broke things open with three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth. First baseman Angela Marfull led the charge, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs, including a two-run single in the fifth that put the Panthers in control. Jenna Potter added two RBIs of her own, including a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Capitalizing on Errors

Merced's defense faltered with three errors, two of which led directly to Sacramento City runs. A misplay in right field allowed Marfull to advance and score in the fifth, and a fielding error at shortstop extended the inning for Potter to drive in another.
